SKAID Medical Outreach 2025

Between February and March 2025, SKAID Foundation brought life-saving healthcare to the doorsteps of underserved communities across five Local Government Areas in Southern Kaduna.

In the rural corners of Southern Kaduna, access to basic healthcare has long been a dream deferred. For many residents, the cost, distance, and absence of medical personnel have made illnesses a quiet sentence. But between February and March 2025, a shift in the narrative started.

At SKAID Foundation, we believe healthcare is a right, not a privilege. That’s why we launched a bold medical outreach campaign across five underserved LGAs—Zangon Kataf, Kagarko, Jaba, Kauru, and Sanga. This initiative was not just a health intervention—it was a healing movement.

In just five weeks, we reached over 3,300 people across these communities, offering free surgeries, eye care, dental services, general medical consultations, and essential medications. From elderly villagers living with untreated cataracts to children suffering from preventable infections, this outreach brought timely relief and hope.

We performed over 120 surgical procedures, ranging from minor wound repairs to more complex interventions such as hernia repairs and cataract extractions. For many elderly villagers who had lived for years in worsened darkness, restored sight meant not just physical healing but the rekindling of independence and hope.

More than 600 individuals received comprehensive eye examinations. Eyeglasses were distributed to those with refractive errors, and cataract patients were identified for lens replacement surgery. As sunlight reflected off the clear windows of our makeshift optical tents, grateful families witnessed loved ones reclaim the world’s colors and shapes.
Recognizing that oral health often goes forgotten in resource-scarce settings, our dental team carried out hundreds of cleanings, extractions, and restorative procedures. Families who had resigned themselves to living with chronic tooth pain left with brighter smiles—and a renewed understanding of preventive care.

Through daily clinics, our physicians diagnosed and managed conditions such as malaria, hypertension, diabetes, and respiratory infections. More than 2,000 patients received prescriptions for antibiotics, antimalarials, and chronic-disease medications. For many, this marked their first encounter with routine check-ups and blood pressure monitoring, planting the seeds for ongoing preventive health practices.

Beyond clinical interventions, our health educators facilitated interactive workshops on topics including maternal health, nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention. We partnered with local leaders to identify and train community health volunteers, ensuring
that accurate information and basic first-aid skills would continue to spread long after our teams departed.

Highlights of the Outreach include:
✅ 514+ life-changing surgeries (including hernia repairs, myomectomies, and cataract extractions)
✅ 1,400+ eye screenings and 511+ eyeglasses distributed
✅ 2,182+ patients given free medications
✅ 217+ dental cases treated with extractions, cleanings, and oral health education
✅ Zero surgical complications

Each LGA hosted a fully-equipped team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and optometrists, supported by local authorities and volunteers. Clinics were transformed into hubs of care. Laughter returned to homes that had lived too long in pain.
